Making Money Online, Learning Data Science, and Building a Wealth Vehicle
Thursday Three: Episode 5
Hey friends,
This weekend was crazy.
I moved out of my parent’s house and into a place with Rachael (our place looks amazing)
I went to NYC to celebrate my friend’s birthday (NYC is SO back)
I created a product to help you build your audience and make some money (read below to learn more). Pssst, it’s FREE.
Anyways…welcome to the 42 subscribers who have joined us since last Wednesday! I am blown away by the number of people who joined us this past week. It’s so great to meet you all, and I am looking forward to getting to know you guys better. If you haven’t subscribed yet, join 470 curious folks by subscribing below!
On how to make money online with a free product
A few months ago, I created this free product. I advertised it on Twitter and I increased my Twitter following by 200 followers, newsletter subscribers by 150 subscribers, and I made $50.
The other day, I posted a tweet asking if people would be interested in learning how I did it. It got 50 replies!
You guys wanted it, so I built it; a 6 module course that will teach you how to leverage a free product to build your audience and make you some extra dough.
So, if you want to build your audience and make a few extra bucks next week, hit the button below and sign up for a pre-order. It’s 100% free, but if you feel so inclined to throw me a couple of $$$, I’d really appreciate it.
On learning AI/ML
At Deloitte, they put a ton of emphasis on owning your career. Owning your career is a bi-product of being introspective. In other words, to own your career, you need to know what you like and what you don’t like. In my time at the firm - 8 months - I have spent a lot of time reflecting on…
What I like
What I don’t like
What I want to learn more about
etc.
What I learned is that I love solving problems. Not just any problems though. I like solving problems that are a little over my head. I like solving problems where I know absolutely nothing, and I need to figure it out. I like solving problems where I need to learn something new - pretty quickly - in order to figure out a solution.
For example, I was recently tasked with building a Tableau visualization for our client. I had minimal Tableau experience; my only experience was a 3-hour Tableau workshop at Rutgers where I couldn’t even download Tableau on my laptop! Long story short, I learned Tableau in a week, and we were able to deliver the visualization to the client.
This is the kind of work I enjoy the most.
Reflecting on this made me realize that I really want to refine my data science skills. As a result, I have been doing a ton of research on how to do so. Here are some super valuable resources I have been using to develop my skillset. These are amazing. If anyone has any other recommendations, please send them my way!
On how to build a wealth vehicle
My goal is financial freedom. The way to achieve financial freedom is to invest your money in assets, make money from those assets, and invest it into more assets.
Last night, I was reading The Investors Guide to Growing Wealth in Self Storage. The author, AJ Osborne, speaks about developing a wealth vehicle. A wealth vehicle is a business and system you build that takes you to financial freedom. For AJ, that is self-storage.
Everyone’s wealth vehicle is different. For some, it’s real estate. For others, it’s digital assets. It doesn’t matter what your wealth vehicle is, it just matters that you find it.
There is a 4 step process for building wealth:
Make money
Save money
Invest in your wealth vehicle
Scale
The thing is, half of this process is reliant on a wealth vehicle. So, if your goal is to generate wealth, it’s critical that you identify what your wealth vehicle is.
I am following a 4 step process to identify my wealth vehicle:
Learn - Identify a skill you are interested in, and learn it.
Monetize - Leverage the skill to make money.
Reflect - What did you like about making money with that skill? What did you dislike?
Decide - Can you see yourself investing time and money into scaling this skill? Is it worth it? Is it sustainable?
I’ve applied this framework to several business ideas; podcasting, newsletter, digital products, and now a marketing agency and self-storage investing.
Wrapping it up
One of my goals is to grow our community to 500 subscribers by the end of Q2. Right now, we are sitting at 470; 30 more to go! We are so close I can almost taste it.
So, if you enjoyed this newsletter, I’d really appreciate it if you could share it with few friends. It’d mean the world to me!
Alright, I’m going to wrap this thing up. Thank you so much for reading. If anything piqued your interest, I’d love to chat further; shoot me a DM or respond to this email!
Have a great week and talk soon,
Austin
