On happiness
Everyone wants to be happy, but we rarely take the time to reflect on the topic.
This weekend, I wrote over 4000 words on happiness. It was one of the most enlightening and emotional experiences of my life; I cried at the end, re-reading it.
Knowing what brings you happiness is the most powerful thing in the world. Once you define what brings you happiness, you can take steps to create more of it. We all think we know what makes us happy until we sit back and reflect on it.
Use these questions to define your happiness and create a plan to create more of it.
What is happiness for you?
What do you need to do to create more happiness?
How are you going to create more happiness?
Below, you’ll find my answers to these questions…
What is happiness for me?
There are three drivers to my happiness:
Spending time with family and friends
Building things
Learning things
What do I need to create more happiness?
This is easy; time. I can’t buy time, but I can identify the things in my life that take up the most time, and then take steps to reduce those things.
How am I going to create more happiness?
By building assets that can free up my time. In my last newsletter, I talked about the concept of building a wealth vehicle; mine is self-storage/small businesses/real estate. However, to invest in my wealth vehicle, I need more capital.
To generate more capital, I need to build my agency and sell digital products; like these:
To build my agency, I need to deliver results and receive quality testimonials.
To sell more digital products, I need to build my following.
To build my following, I need to write quality Twitter threads; more on this in the next section.
How to build a following on Twitter
Forget everything you’ve learned about building a following on Twitter. I have spent hours reading through the top guides and threads on how to build a Twitter following. Here is the recipe for success…
Write 2-3 threads/week; 15 tweets max, great hook, quality CTA
Distribute the threads via DMs, newsletters, etc.; get engagement quickly
Build relationships with people who are slightly bigger than you and slightly smaller than you
For those of you not on Twitter, you’re probably thinking, “why does this matter?” I thought this for the longest time… Building a following on Twitter is incredibly valuable. Here are the 2 major benefits I am seeking:
Build my network
Sell more products
If you’re not on Twitter, get on Twitter. It’s not too late. I’d suggest starting here. This is an incredible article written by Shaan Puri - he sold his company to Twitch and has a ton of followers - on audience building and its benefits.
Wrapping it up
Hey! Thanks for reading this edition of my newsletter.
If you want to chat happiness or Twitter or anything, respond to this email. I’m serious; I respond to every single one! What’s writing a newsletter if I don’t get to engage with the people who read my stuff every week!?
Bottom line, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Until next time,
Austin
Damn, I'm going to reflect on my happiness in some morning pages. Thank you for the prompt, Austin. Great summary of success on Twitter as well. Keep crushing it, my man.
