Unpopular Opinion on Wealth
Your wealth is how independent you are.
If you lost your job, how quickly would you be able to find another one, earning what you were making before?
If your water supply was contaminated, how quickly would you be able to access purified water?
If food stores were no longer a thing, how quickly would you be able to find your own food?
Wealth is independence.
The more dependent you are for money, shelter, food, and water, the less wealth you have.
Tip for Dealing With Missed Workout Guilt
Set ABC goals for your workouts — I learned this from Sahil Bloom. Here's what I mean:
The generalized version of the ABC Goal System:
A Goal: Most ambitious, perfect case.
B Goal: Middle ground, base case.
C Goal: Minimum viable level, anything above zero compounds.
On days when you feel great, you hit your A Goal. On days when you feel ok (most days!), you hit your B Goal. On days when you feel bad, you hit your C Goal.
The ABC Goal System removes any intimidation or guilt: As long as you hit your C Goal, you're making forward progress.
A few weeks ago, I was travelling a bunch. It was challenging to stick to my Ironman training 100%. So I set an A Goal (Do the workout as prescribed), B Goal (Do 75% of the workout), C Goal (Get 10,000 steps in for the day).
Setting three goals instead of one gives you the opportunity to "check the box" even when you can't get the whole thing done as opposed to setting one goal and feeling like shit if you don't do all the work. This same system can be applied to virtually any goal, but it's been particularly helpful for me with fitness.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Wild Fact About Pharmaceutical Drugs in the US
The average American is on four pharmaceutical drugs and more than 131 million Americans take at least one prescription medication.
The crazy thing?
We don't really know the long term effects of a lot of this stuff. And most illnesses can be prevented and treated naturally. Yet, Americans continue to listen to their doctors, take their drugs, and continue to get sicker and sicker.
